MAHA KUMBHA MELA – SANGAM (ALLAHABAD):

Yes, I was there at the Holy Sangamam on Monday, the 25th Feb 2013, virtually the last Shahi snan of the maha Kumbh. that day is called Maghi Poornima – Pournami with Magha nakshatram.

Language differed, attire differed, there were differences in general behaviour too – but one common factor was visible there ie.,- one could experience the common unity, Bhakthi. There was only one common factor – the mantra of divine feeling from everyone gathered here.

By the time we could reach the Snan Ghat it was already 8 pm past. I understand that the amid tight security arrangement, more than 1.10 crore devotees, pilgrims and seers took bath on this day. Of course we reached there around 7 pm and still there was a huge crowd drawn from almost all parts of our nation – akhand Bharat.

Two quintessential applications of the tounge are eating and speaking. If either of these is not controlled it can hurt us and others.

So it is no wonder that our Sanatana Vaidhika Dharma has prescribed Vratams like Ekadasi and Mouna Vratam. These two teach us the value of controlling our tongue.
